School Bus Driver - Aspire Trade High School

Must already be in possession of a valid North Carolina CDL with P and S endorsements.

*Background check and drug testing conducted upon hiring.

Hours:

Split shift with guaranteed 5 hours a work day from 5:30-8:00am in the morning and 3:00-5:30pm in the afternoon.

Pay:

Pay is $22 an hour to start with the possibility for yearly increase.

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and special events. This position requires strong communication skills, a commitment to behavior management, and the ability to educate young passengers on safety protocols.

Duties

• Safely operate a school bus or van while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Manage student behavior during transit, ensuring a respectful and safe environment for all passengers.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, routes, and any issues that may arise.
• Educate students on proper bus etiquette and safety procedures.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition; report any mechanical issues as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and any incidents that occur during transport.
• Assist students with special needs as required, ensuring their safety and comfort during transit.

Requirements

• Valid North Carolina commercial driver’s license (CDL) with P and S endorsements.
• Experience driving a school bus
• Strong behavior management skills to effectively handle various situations with children.
• Mechanical knowledge is a plus for conducting basic vehicle maintenance checks.
• Excellent communication skills to interact positively with students, parents, and staff.
• A commitment to educating children about transportation safety and proper conduct while riding the bus.
