Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is currently accepting applications for the position of:
Electrical Lineman Instructor (M/F)
Description
Instructs classes in the assigned division; coordinates assigned activities with other college programs, instructors, divisions, departments and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Coordinator, Electrical Lineman.
Examples of Duties
Essential and other responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Instruct classes in assigned area.
- Provide supervisor with a course outline for each class prior to the first week of class.
- Be well prepared and use best practices in instructing each class.
- Assist in curriculum development and revision of course content and objectives as necessary by using effective assessment and evaluation tools and techniques in the classroom.
- Prepare objectives, student outcomes, assignments, grading standards, attendance policies and course syllabus to be distributed at first class meeting.
- Begin and end each class on time.
- Keep accurate attendance and grade records.
- Return homework assignments and exams on a timely basis.
- Evaluate and recommend textbooks and materials.
- Develop new courses in field as required.
- Be available during non-scheduled hours by appointment.
- Make recommendations to area director related to improvements to the course and the curriculum.
- Deliver reports/forms in a timely manner; assure the completeness and accuracy of records.
- Make recommendations to area director for supply and equipment needs
- Participate in professional development activities and required employee training.
Marginal Functions:
- Maintain contacts with business, industry, and professional organizations for keeping instructional programs current with occupational or academic field.
- Maintain liaisons with relevant community agencies, the public schools, senior institutions, businesses and industries.
- Serve on a variety of committees; attend departmental meeting and graduation ceremonies.
- Keep abreast of new developments in field.
- Assist with the maintenance and installation of various technology related devices.
- Assist individuals in continually reassessing their goals, values, interests, and career decisions, along with the knowledge of different cultures to interact effectively with all populations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Working Conditions
Knowledge of:
Principles and techniques of classroom instruction and online teaching methods.
The mission, goals and objectives of CCC&TI.
Principles and procedures of record keeping.
Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration.
Safe work practices and procedures.
Operational characteristics of equipment and tools used in the area of work assigned.
Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.
Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.
Ability to:

Environmental Conditions:
Office or classroom environment; working closely with others. Periodically working irregular hours. May be required to work in a variety of environments including outdoors in extreme conditions on occasion.
Physical Conditions:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing, walking or sitting for prolonged periods of time; occasionally lifting heavy equipment; general manual dexterity; ability to distinguish color; exposure to computer screens. Requires the ability to use, operate and/or handle a variety of office and electrical lineman equipment.
Experience and Training
Experience:
Three years of prior work experience in related field required. Teaching experience at a post-secondary institution preferred.
Training:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in related field preferred.
Possession of a valid Class A CDL driver's license required.
