Medical Director
Medical Director provides guidance for Carolina SeniorCare with medical delivery of care by providers and ensures the delivery of quality health care services. Carolina SeniorCare provides primary care to complex geriatric participants. The goals of care include medical stabilization, prevention of hospitalization, and end of life care. Our focus on participant-centered care allows providers to spend time to attend to the complex medical issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Responsible for delivery of care and clinical outcomes.
-Provides medical guidance and supervision of medical services activities.
-Provides leadership and medical expertise in the development of medical policies, procedures and guidelines.
-Responsible for the development of Carolina SeniorCare clinical standards and medical practice guidelines and pathways.
-Provides oversight of the QAPI Plan.
-Reviews all quality of care issues and oversees the development and implementation of quality of care corrective action plans.
-Develops educational and other programs to build the skills of participating providers.
-Oversees the Utilization Management Program.
-Authorizes hospital level of care.
-Functions as Primary Care Physician, as needed.
-Participates in on-call, per rotation.
Qualifications:
-M.D. or DO with current state of North Carolina license.
-Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice with advanced certification in geriatrics preferred.
-Must have good understanding of managed care environment and working with peers and other health providers to resolve utilization, quality management, performance improvement, pharmacy and therapeutics, peer review, credentialing, and physician leadership issues.
-Minimum 1 year primary care experience with a frail, elderly population.
-Must possess a current, unencumbered, active DEA license.
-Current privileges or the ability to obtain and maintain staff privileges at Carolina SeniorCare contracted provider facilities
