The Accounts Payable Accountant accurately maintains the accounts payable cycle of accounting in a timely manner. Responsible for maintaining and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices. Working with vendors to reconcile monthly statements with vendors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the A/P invoice flow through the office from incoming mail/email
- Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
- Review and reconcile all vendor statements and research discrepancies
- Input approved invoices into A/P in QuickBooks
- Print checks for the bi-monthly payment runs after receiving approval of edit list by the Controller
- Process refund checks received from billing offices
- Create and upload the positive pay file to the bank (refund account)
- Enter ACH payments into the banking platform
- Maintain approval, receipts, and code credit card transactions into QuickBooks
- Responsible for journal entry postings for loans
- Assist with unclaimed property annual filing
- File/Scan invoices and other documentation
- Assist the controller with projects as needed
EDUCATION: Associate's Degree or higher
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of (3) year of accounts payable and accounting experience.
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position including but not limited to:
- Knowledge of MS Office, Excel and QuickBooks
- Monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity; analysis data; ensure compliance with applicable standards (GAAP), rules, regulations, and systems of internal control
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Be able to demonstrate attention to details and good-record-keeping
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, especially Excel)
- Hands-on detail-oriented tasks
- Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization
- High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy
- Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keep current with developments and trends

- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
