Electric Instrumentation Technician I
City of Monroe – Electric Instrumentation Technician I – Perform basic skilled technical work in the maintenance of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) computers and systems; assists in the testing, calibrating and maintaining protective relays in electric substations; does related work as required. Work is performed under close supervision by the Electric Substation Superintendent. Assists in operating, monitoring, and maintaining SCADA computers and systems; ensuring proper operation of equipment; maintaining records. General knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the electrical and mechanical trades; general knowledge of the occupational hazards connected with general maintenance operations and ability to observe and enforce appropriate safety precautions; skill in the use and care of bench and hand tools, machines and equipment; ability to work from sketches or blueprints to close tolerances and to understand and carry out difficult oral and written instructions; ability to apply principles of logical thinking to work tasks and practical situations and requests made by superiors or subordinates; ability to communicate in both oral and written form; ability to organize work load; ability to comprehend and respond to a variety of work situations in an expedient manner, possibly under emergency conditions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in electronic technology or related field and one year’s experience in maintenance work involving electronic and electrical repair and installation. Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North or South Carolina; CPR and Basic First Aid Certification required. Minimum starting salary $50,502 annually.
