Line Apprentice I, II, III or Journeyman

City of Monroe - Line Apprentice I, II, III or Journeyman - Assisting in the construction and maintenance of electric distribution systems and related facilities.  Some knowledge of electric line construction and maintenance and the hazards encountered; ability and willingness to learn to set poles, string wire, and perform related work; strength to perform manual work and physical stamina to withstand working under adverse weather conditions; ability to climb poles. Works outside normal hours in emergencies and performs on-call duties. Salary range $36,296 to $98,010 annually.

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK

Performs semiskilled work assisting in the construction, maintenance, and operation of an electric distribution system; does related work as required. Work is performed under close supervision of an Electric Line Crew Leader. This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
