CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER I - Conducts various zoning and nuisance code inspections; enforces public health nuisance, graffiti, parking in the yard, zoning and solid waste codes and ordinances; prepares and maintains inspection files and records; investigates complaints in reference to public health nuisances, graffiti, parking in the yard, zoning and solid waste violations; attends community meetings and neighborhood clean-ups; participates in neighborhood walks; assists the public with interpretations of the public health nuisance, parking in the yard, zoning and solid waste ordinances; attends required code classes, seminars, and local field training; and types courtesy letters, notices of violations, and civil citations in reference to public health nuisances. Must possess some knowledge of State building and related codes, laws, and ordinances; some knowledge of local zoning and nuisance codes, solid waste ordinances, and computer operations. Must possess the ability to work effectively with employees and general public. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in zoning, code enforcement, or building inspections. Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina. Grade 12; minimum starting salary $36,213.
