ENERGY SERVICES UTILITY LOCATOR
ENERGY SERVICES UTILITY LOCATOR - Performs intermediate semiskilled work locating utility lines; does related work as required. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Energy Services Utility Locator Crew Leader. Requires general knowledge of the operation of electronic locating devices; general knowledge of the tools, materials, and equipment used in the locating, installation, replacement, maintenance, and repair of natural gas lines; general knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual methods and tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, location, and replacement of gas lines and appurtenances; general knowledge of City Operations and Maintenance Manual, engineering standards and specifications related to gas system installation methods, and materials; general knowledge of the hazards and related safety precautions involved in working on energized pad-mounted transformers; general knowledge of electrical principles and functions; ability to read and correct utility maps to determine location of gas and electric lines; ability to read and understand locate tickets and work within the system designated for use by the City; ability to read operation and service manuals and to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, and the general public. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and minimal experience in utility construction or maintenance including some experience locating underground utility lines. Must possess or have ability to acquire appropriate commercial driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina within six months of hire. CPR and basic first aid certification required within one year of hire. Grade 11; salary range $34,486 – $53,477.
