GAS TECHNICIAN I, II, or III
GAS TECHNICIAN I, II, or III - Perform responsible skilled work in the installation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of natural gas lines and facilities. Requires knowledge of a variety of methods and tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, locating, and replacement of natural gas lines and appurtenances and knowledge of the tools used. Requires knowledge of the hazards associated with working around heavy equipment, in trenches with natural gas, associated work hazards, and the associated safety precautions. Requires ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public; ability to read utility maps, operation and service manuals, and to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and experience in the maintenance, repair, and/or construction of natural gas lines and facilities including experience in excavating equipment operation. Must possess or have ability to acquire an appropriate Class A commercial driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina. Requires certification for gas line fusion or ability to obtain the certification. Technician I: grade 9, salary range $29,744 - $46,114; Technician II: grade 10, salary range $31,242 - $48,381; Technician III: grade 11, salary range $32,802 - $50,856.
