WATER RESOURCES TREATMENT PLANT MAINTENANCE MECHANIC I OR II - based upon qualifications.
The City of Monroe is seeking a skilled maintenance person to join the instrumentation/mechanical maintenance team in the City’s Water Resources Department. The successful candidate will have knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the electrical and mechanical trades; general knowledge of the occupational hazards connected with water and sewer equipment maintenance, and have experience with mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, valves, piping, chemical feed systems, etc. Experience with a strong electrical controls background, welding, computerized control systems, and a computerized maintenance work order system is desired. The successful candidate for Mechanic II consideration will have extensive experience in all of the above skills plus be able to instruct and supervise Mechanic I personnel as required, must have skills in troubleshooting techniques, possession of a commercial driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina, and possess or be able to acquire a Class I Maintenance Technologist certification within six months of hire. Skills in Programmable Logic Control (PLC) are desired. Salary Mechanic I grade 12; salary range: $34,445 - $53,456. Salary Mechanic II grade 13; salary range: $36,234 - $56,160.
