The City is seeking motivated candidates who will perform administrative and technical work in the area of marketing communications. Main responsibilities include but are not limited to: drafting news releases, media advisories, talking points, backgrounders, research papers and FAQ's for distribution to news media, city management and interview subjects; developing social media plans based on departmental needs; managing and updating social media sites and analyzing traffic patterns; assisting city departments with public relations, social media and event coordination; producing and directing original, multimedia programming for the City's local government access channel, internal television monitors, social media and other visual mediums; and serving as City leadership liaison to plan, coordinate and attend City functions, public engagements or participation in community events or outreach programs. Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor's degree with coursework in business administration, marketing, journalism, or related field and at least 3 years' experience in public relations, multimedia journalism or marketing communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience - Must have a valid NC Driver's License - Thorough knowledge of public relations techniques, news and promotional writing, videography and related videography editing software - Strong communication and customer service skills
