Natural Science Instructor at Brookwood Secure Center
The Division of Natural and Social Sciences at Columbia-Greene Community College is seeking qualified candidates to teach the following courses in our Prison Education Program beginning Fall 2024:
- Astronomy and Culture
- Extreme Weather and Climate Change
- Chemistry of Food Drugs and Behavior
- Contemporary Environmental Issues
Class sessions are held at Brookwood Secure Center, serving male and female juvenile and adolescent offenders in Claverack, New York where students are enrolled in an Associate in Applied Science degree program.
Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in science or relevant field.
- Willingness to complete application and background check with the Office of Children and Family Services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous instructional experience.
- Experience teaching in incarcerated settings.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of students.
Benefit Information
Starting salary $900 per credit hour and will be commensurate with education and teaching experience. Some benefits include New York State Retirement options, supplemental retirement and life insurance options, and employee tuition waiver.
