Dorchester County Disabilities and Special Needs Board
The Dorchester County Disabilities and Special Needs Board (located in the Coastal Charleston Region of South Carolina) is recruiting an Executive Director to manage an agency with a $12 million annual budget and staff of 220 in multiple locations. The position reports to a 7 member Board of Directors appointed by the Governor.
Primary responsibilities include the following:
- Strategic planning
- Managing a system of community-based occupational and residential services for persons with intellectual disabilities, head and spinal cord injuries, autism and related disabilities.
- Oversight of agency financial affairs
- Direct supervision of the senior management team
- Development of performance goals
- Management of the day-to-day activities of the Agency and representing the Dorchester County DSN Boards interests with the State Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) elected officials, and the surrounding community.
Minimum qualifications include at least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human services field of study and at least three (3) years of experience
working with people who have disabilities with at least one (1) year experience in supervision/administration.
Seeking an applicant with significant progressive experience including management of the financial, human and physical resources within a developmental disabilities environment, and a career history that involves strategic planning, organizational development, consumer advocacy, and public relations. An advanced degree in a human services or management field is preferred, but not required.
Salary commensurate with experience.
