General Maintenance Mechanic II - 532017

Job Summary:

Performs skilled maintenance tasks to complete repair work, pressure cleaning, painting and general maintenance work for the upkeep of the campus lots and garages.

  • Installs and maintains bumper blocks, county curbs, pavement markings, traffic signs and informational signs in parking lots, garages and roadways. Paints and maintains garages, elevator lobbies, walls, columns, beams, stairwells and floors.
  • Inspects and repairs surface lots areas and roadways which include asphalt, county curbs, bumper blocks, curbing and signage. Installing marking on roadways and garages to include signage, painting and striping.
  • Maintains pavement in adequate conditions, Repairs small pothole as required. Assists with pressure cleaning operations of garages and campus lots.
  • Operates special equipment such as backhoe and forklifts and special tools during projects such as graveling lots. Assists with event operations, including set up and breakdown of equipment.
  • Operates motor vehicles to transport materials. Assists with relocation of emergency call boxes in parking areas. Installs small drainage structures as required.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for mechanical trades or a high school diploma and three (3) years of appropriate experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver's - Class E
