Communications Assistant-Security & Instructor
Gaston College is seeking to fill the following positions:
Communications Assistant - Campus Police & Security, Part-Time - Serve as communications assistant for the Campus Police and Security Department. Receive and process incoming calls through the College's switchboard while maintaining excellent customer service at all times. Evaluate and process calls from the College community for emergency services. Dispatch Campus Police and other College departments as needed. Minimum Education Qualifications: High school diploma or GED/HSE required; Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) preferred. Minimum Experience Qualifications: Law enforcement or security experience preferred; Dispatching or switchboard experience preferred; DCI certified and meet all DCI requirement within 90 days of employment required; Fingerprinting and criminal background check required upon hire; Basic skills in Microsoft Word required; Working knowledge of operating standard office equipment and related tools and technology required; Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
Instructor-Textile Technology, 9-Month, Full Time - A full-time faculty member is a College employee whose primary assignment involves teaching or the direct support of teaching. The position of full-time faculty member is a demanding one that involves delivery of instruction, preparation and evaluation of such instruction, accessibility to students, committee assignments, and service to College and community. Minimum Education Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Textiles (or related field) from a regionally accredited institution required; Master of Science degree in Textiles (or related field) from a regionally accredited institution preferred; Must meet minimum SACSCOC criteria and the minimum criteria of other pertinent accrediting, licensing, and credentialing agencies in the area of teaching assignment. Minimum Experience Qualifications: The ability to incorporate technology and interactive strategies in teaching is required; Five years of work experience in textile industry preferred. (ex: Yarn production, fabric manufacturing, polymer/fiber science); Community college teaching experience and knowledge of curriculum development preferred; A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to collaborate well with others required; Must be willing to teach day, evening, and/or weekend classes and labs; Must be willing to teach through multiple modes at multiple instruction sites, including high school sites; Must be willing to teach during the summer semester.
