George Mason University’s Operations and Business Services, invites applicants for Associate Director of Technology Services. The Associate Director of Technology Services serves as the senior person responsible for providing IT services to the University community for electronic door access, CCTV, and card systems on campus. The Associate Director will collaborate with all departments, all staff and visitors, and University assets to develop, implement, and manage the organization’s security vision, strategy, and programs.
The Associate Director will be responsible for technology within the division of Operations and Business Services and the technical staff within Operations and Business Services. This position will ensure their needs are being met and aid in liaising with central IT to ensure service needs and requests are resolved.
The Associate Director will be responsible for the supervision of the Campus Security Card Access staff. This position is responsible for the total operation and security of the card systems, camera systems, as well as any other connected systems.

Responsibilities:
- Provide project oversight for technical and operations projects within the division of Operations and Business Services;
- Lead operational and technical staff, ensuring high levels of customer service and staff development;
- Oversee and maintain multiple operating systems (a variety of Linux and Windows) and enterprise systems managed by the division;
- Create and maintain SQL jobs and reports using data processes and user-customized reports;
- Develop and manage operations, processes, and staffing for the department(s);
- Manage and coordinate the University’s security program to avoid and/or control losses and apply the processes necessary to provide a secure environment;
- Develop strategies for threat/vulnerability analyses to determine the probable frequency and severity of natural and man-made disasters and criminal activity on the organization’s ability to deliver services;
- Verify systems by conducting system audits and reviews;
- Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies and procedures;
- Develop ways to enhance integrations with other University systems and streamline processes;
- Maintain organization’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies;
- Complete projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and contractors;
- Develop, manage, or conduct surveys and analyses of, processes and systems to evaluate the current status of systems, procedural security, information systems security, employee awareness, and recovery capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience;
- Demonstrated customer service skills;
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills and the ability to present to a diverse group of users;
- Comprehensive understanding of network architecture and client/server technology;
- Demonstrated problem solving and communication skills;
- Ability to manage personnel;
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced diverse environment;
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask, problem-solve, and manage competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated project management skills;
- Experience with leading and developing diverse teams;
- Experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices;
- Ability to develop system requirements for both new systems and enhancements/additional modules for existing systems.
