Water Department Director
Greenwood Commissioners of Public Works is a municipal utility providing electric, gas, and water services in the Upstate of South Carolina. We are located in Greenwood County which has a population of approximately 70,000.
We are looking for an engineer to oversee the daily operations of our water treatment, transmission, and distribution systems. Your primary responsibilities will be providing guidance and oversight to improve and maintain the water treatment plant that has a daily production of approximately 11 MGD (permitted at 33 MGD) and the water distribution system that serves 22,000 meters. You will also be responsible for performing analyses of the water system, monitoring changes in regulations governing drinking water, implementing construction and operational changes to ensure continued CPW compliance with all standards and regulations, overseeing two operational superintendents, three senior foremen, and maintaining excellent working relationships. Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical personnel, along with a solid understanding of key water industry fundamentals will be key to this role.
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering supplemented by three to five years of progressively responsible administrative and technical experience in public utilities, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Registration as a Professional Engineer in SC is preferred.
