Job Description
The Health and Safety Manager oversees industrial hygiene, occupational health, and safety programs for the Environmental Health and Safety Department.  Key responsibilities include: 

  • Develop, implement, review, and evaluate related programs, plans, and procedures pertaining to industrial hygiene, occupational health, and safety
  • Take a leadership role in fostering a positive culture of safety 
  • Develop and administer training programs for occupational health, safety and industrial hygiene 
  • Prepare professional reports with findings and corrective actions
  • Utilize continuous improvement principles in all EHS responsibilities
  • Cultivate a positive culture of safety by role modeling safe behavior and a demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Respond to off-hours emergencies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or a relevant field
  • Industrial hygiene experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in environmental health and safety
  • Ability to wear an air purifying respirator, with or without accommodation 
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain a valid driver's license by start date

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in science or a relevant field and/or EHS professional certification
  • Prior experience with environmental health and safety in a college or university setting
  • Possession of Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential, by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene

Salary will be between $60,000 and $68,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
