Senior Estimator, Civil Engineering.
Responsible for developing a full range of civil engineering and construction cost estimates for PANYNJ infrastructure projects, from conceptual design parametric cost estimates to final
design bid estimates during the design phase, and detailed estimates during construction for change management. Working under the supervision of a licensed engineer, serve as the primary member of the estimating team, with overall responsibility for the creation of
budgets and cost estimates for materials, equipment and labor for assigned engineering and construction management projects. Review engineering and construction design drawings and specifications to prepare Basis of Estimate outlining scope, exceptions, allowance and
format, in accordance with client and contract requirements and with Federal and NYS building codes and PANYNJ requirements; conduct field site visits to gather engineering data to develop cost estimates in CSI, UNIFORMAT and other appropriate WBS; develop independent change
order estimates and review contractor change proposals for adherence to contracts; prepare physical take-offs and document unit line item quantities manually or using digital technology; review cost estimates of other team members for accuracy and consistency with engineering contract documentation; research unit price requirements and prepare estimates using appropriate unit price, labor productivity and equipment rates; advise engineering and construction teams in identifying project risk in projects under bid and review and coordinate final pricing methodologies; analyze bids prepared by contractors and prepare post-award change order estimates for order construction phase negotiations; prepare cost estimate report deliverables to clients. Position duties require extensive utilization of AutoCAD, Revit, Primavera P6, BlueBeam Revu and On-screen Takeoff. Position duties require approximately 15 percent travel time to project and client sites within the Eastern U.S.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, followed by minimum two years of experience in the position offered.
