The Town of Cramerton, NC is seeking an experienced professional with a demonstrated record of professional law enforcement experience including leadership, management, strong fiscal management and a customer-service philosophy with experience in municipal law enforcement, community policing, and resource management to serve as the next Chief of Police.
The Town of Cramerton is located in Gaston County, North Carolina and has a population of over 5,000 residents. Cramerton is situated along US Highway 29 (NC 74) between Charlotte and Gastonia. It is located 5 minutes from I-85 and approximately 10 minutes West of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. Employees of the Town of Cramerton share a strong commitment to continual organizational improvement and excellent delivery of services.
The Town of Cramerton operates under a Council – Manager form of government. The Chief of Police reports directly to the Town Manager and is responsible for an annual operating budget of approximately $1.6 million. Department staff include 15 full-time and 6 part-time sworn personnel. In addition to traditional police services, the department is responsible for code and minimum housing enforcement. Through an inter-local agreement the department provides all police services to the neighboring Town of McAdenville. The Town of McAdenville has a population of approximately 800 residents and operates under a Mayor – Council form of government.
Minimum requirements include:
* A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a closely related field; advanced leadership training; 10 years of progressively responsible municipal law enforcement experience, including a minimum of 5 years at the supervisory or administrative level.
* Must be certified as a law enforcement officer in NC or eligible for certification immediately upon hire.
* Must possess a valid NC Driver’s License.
* Must maintain a minimum of forty hours of in-service training annually.
Salary Range: $49,457 - $74,793 Depends on qualification (DOQ)
