Lecturer/Assistant/Associate Professor of Teaching

The Department of Engineering Technology & Construction Management at UNC Charlotte seeks applicants with ability to effectively teach courses supporting one or more of our undergraduate programs in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology or Occupational Safety / Safety Management / Safety Sciences. Typically, lecturers will be required to teach the equivalent of four or five course sections per semester, balanced with other assigned responsibilities which may include one or more of the following duties: laboratory supervision / continuous improvement of one or more of the laboratories, on- and off-campus recruiting, summer orientation and registration, assessment and reporting, and/or academic advising. Positions are non-tenure track reporting directly to the Department Chair or his designee. Start date is negotiable but expected by August 2019.

Lecturer / Assistant Professor of Teaching (Position # 004546 & # 001791)

Candidates must have a Master of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, engineering management, or closely related field with a minimum of 2 years of professional industry, consulting, design or construction experience. Candidates with an earned doctorate may be eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor of Teaching. Candidates must possess excellent leadership, organizational, teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, and must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment that serves a diverse student population. Preferred qualifications include 3 to 5 (or more) years of professional experience demonstrating progressive responsible charge activities in a team environment, professional registration, an earned doctorate and prior teaching experience. For position #004546, candidates who can contribute to the undergraduate programs in Mechanical ET and/or Construction Management disciplines will receive preference. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Positions may be either 9 month or 12 month appointment depending upon requirements of department.

Occupational Safety / Safety Management / Safety Sciences (Position #004408)

Candidates with degrees and professional experience in any area of safety are encouraged to apply. Primary duties include development and delivery of courses in occupational safety, safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental pollution, ergonomics and human factors, and other related safety courses.

Candidates must have a Master of Science degree in an appropriate discipline with professional industry, consulting, design, construction or safety experience for appointment as a Lecturer. Candidates with a doctorate may qualify for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Teaching, rank being commensurate with professional experience. Candidates should possess excellent leadership, organizational, teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, and must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment that serves a diverse student population. Preferred qualifications include professional experience, professional registration or certification (CSP, CIH, PE, etc.), an earned doctorate and prior teaching experience. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment may be either 9 month or 12 month depending upon department requirements and interest of the candidate. Candidates with prior teaching and administrative experience may be considered for an administrative appointment and are encouraged to apply.
