Teaching - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.
The position includes responsibilities for teaching courses in introductory/general biology and academic advising for Biology majors. Required qualifications include: a minimum of a Master's Degree in an area of the Biological Sciences; experience teaching introductory biology with non-science majors; experience with large lecture courses; a demonstrated history of employing best practices in classroom pedagogy; and knowledge of lab safety procedures. The Department and College strongly supports and values diversity among their students and faculty. UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. Desired qualifications include knowledge of laboratory techniques and experience with the development of laboratory exercises, the ability to supervise and advise undergraduate students as well as previous experience in coordinating graduate teaching assistants.
