The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for an Audio Visual System Programmer for the School of Professional Studies. The Audio Visual Integration team is part of the School of Professional Studies, reporting to the Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. The Audiovisual Integration Team designs and installs all of the audiovisual systems for the University’s learning spaces, common spaces, and digital signage. The School of Professional studies works collaboratively with departments, colleges, and academic support units to ensure integrated partnerships for enrollment growth, student success and faculty effectiveness in teaching.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a two-year technical college with a major in computer science, information technology, or related area and two years in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or graduation from a four-year college or university and two years’ experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in computer science or information technology or related degree. Related information technology experience may be substituted year-for-year for the required education.
Essential Job Duties: This position will create, test and deploy AV control systems programs for Classroom Support Projects. Develop GUI design interfaces and is solely responsible for all room control system programs and providing technical expertise for the touch panel reporting component of the Classroom Conditions Assessment Program. Utilize the departmental project management software tools to provide updates, track project progress, and indicate completion of all assigned tasks. Configure, update and maintain the Crestron Fusion database which is utilized to monitor and report on classroom AV equipment. Analyzes and assesses customer needs to develop effective and appropriate audiovisual control and switching solutions. Create functional system design drawings using standard AV drawing software tools. Assist with project closeout tasks including advanced AV systems troubleshooting, debugging, and commissioning to ensure proper system operation. Conduct technician and end-user training as needed. This position also works with staff to troubleshoot and resolve any and all control programming issues in smart classrooms. Provides technical support and expertise to student personnel to develop basic programming troubleshooting and deployment. Act as support expert for all control programming projects delegated to outside contractors. Identifies trends and makes suggestions for technical modifications to solve existing and future problems. Contributes to decisions based on weighing options and consequences. Demonstrates knowledge of other work specialties and integrates this knowledge to develop and communicate solutions. Develops and/or implements information technology solutions to enhance organizational success.
