The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Paralegal for the office of the Chancellor. This is a full-time, permanent staff position. 

Salary: $50,142 - $55,000

Primary Purpose of Position: This position performs substantive and advanced level paralegal work specifically in the areas of assisting the public records officer/legal specialist with managing and responding to public record requests, providing litigation support and assisting attorneys in case management; independently coordinating and manages legal projects and the archival process of records; and coordinates and conducts educational programs on specified legal topics for the benefit of the university community.

Minimum Qualifications: Completion of an accredited paralegal program; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties: This position performs mid-level paralegal work, reporting to the legal specialist/public records officer, and supporting the attorneys in the Office of Legal Affairs, specifically in the areas of responses to public records requests, including e-discovery and litigation support, document and case management, and legal research. This position will be responsible to maintain, review and promptly respond to requests for public records; locate, gather, and review responsive records; determine applicable, legitimate reasons to withhold records; maintain a record of requests using university software (NextRequest), provide monthly reports and files of public records requests as may be requested by the public records officer/legal specialist or University administration. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of two (2) years experience as a paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal office. Paralegal certification through an Associate’s Degree or Post-Baccalaureate Certification Program, or an equivalent combination of paralegal experience and education. A North Carolina Paralegal Certification is preferred, but not required. Paralegal experience in higher education is preferred but not required.
