The Education Resource Librarian manages the Teaching Resource Library (TRL), located in the School of Education, which in turn supports the undergraduate, graduate, and faculty research in the School of Education
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Teacher Resource Library, located in the School of Education. Ensures the proper functioning of the TRL in keeping with the policies and procedures as identified in Library documents. Creates displays to promote the successful use of K-12 literature in the classroom.
Develops library programs and outreach initiatives; actively promotes TRL resources to campus and community stakeholders.
Provides group and one-on-one instruction and training for patrons in locating and using materials; provides informational tours and orientations; and instructs classes on Library resources and services, specific to assignment requirements. Collaborates with faculty to create online resources (LibGuides) and to provide information literacy instruction for research assignments.
Handles circulation transactions with students, faculty, staff, administrators and members of the public according to policies established by Livermore Library. Handles student, faculty and staff library accounts and exercises discretion in reconciliation of patron account discrepancies
Assigns and monitors student work duties, including shelving and circulation activities. Supervises and coaches student employees in communicating with clarity and tact and models appropriate behavior.
Conducts regular collection maintenance. Works with Education faculty and Livermore Library to develop collection and manage designated budgets. Assists with pre- and post-processing of TRL materials. Collaborates with Livermore Library Technical Services to resolve cataloging issues for special materials. Insures all books and other materials are shelved correctly, including scheduled shelf-reading, inventory, weeding and review of missing and overdue books.
May have various duties in the main library (Livermore Library) as necessary.
Undergraduate degree in Education (preference will be given towards those with Masters or Doctoral level work in education). Three years of library or education experience.
