Watauga County is accepting applications for the position of Emergency Services Director anticipated to begin July 1, 2018. Duties include planning, directing, coordinating and supervising Office of Emergency Management/Fire Marshal and County 911 Communications Center and ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal laws and requirements. Position requires thorough knowledge of the DCI system; Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) program; Emergency Communications Standard Operating Guidelines; Emergency Fire Dispatch; and local, federal and state laws and regulations regarding civil defense and emergency management. Associates/Technical degree in public safety, public administration or related field and considerable experience in emergency services including progressively resposible experience in emergencies, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. County benefit package includes helath and dental insurance; memebership with Local Governmental Employee’s Retirement System; 5% supplemental retirement contribution; paid holidays; vacation and sick leave.
