Assistant Chief of Security & Safety

Western Piedmont Community College is seeking to fill the following position:

Assistant Chief of Security & Safety

Under the direction of the Chief Security & Safety Officer, the Assistant Chief will serve as the secondary staff member responsible in the planning and management of security, safety and occupational health matters.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Perform duties of the Chief of Security in his/her absence
• Coordinate activities of security, safety, and related functions
• Plan and organize all phases of the College’s fire, safety, and security operations plan
• Conduct loss of asset investigation and reports of accidents
• Assist in development and implementation of safety goals, objectives, and training across campus
• Collect accident and injury data reports

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement, Management or Public Administration preferred.
3. BLET Certified or law enforcement background preferred.
4. One to three years of professional work experience in safety, security, or occupational health management required.
5. Ability to plan, assign, and direct the work of others in a team environment required.
6. Ability to exercise critical human relation skills.
7. Demonstrated computer literacy skills.
8. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and state laws regarding accidents and losses of property preferred.
9. Valid NC Driver’s License required.

Salary:  Hiring Range – Minimum to Midpoint ($3,009 – 3,761/monthly)
