Minimum Training and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in technical report writing required. Experience with website design and maintenance and proficiency with SQL and HTML preferred. Experience with HR-, payroll- and accounting-related data management functions, preferably in a higher education environment, highly desired. Experience with technical accounting and/or Human Resources (HR) information systems support and maintenance helpful.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of general data management principles, practices and operations. Knowledge of programing techniques necessary to generate reports via SQL and Webfocus to ensure data accuracy. Ability to identify, research and resolve problems through application of conceptual and analytical skills; exercise discretion and sound judgment; and develop solid working relationships with faculty, administrators and staff. Skilled in conducting and reporting research. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
Major Duties:
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Finance and Business, the Data Management Specialist provides technical data support for the Accounting, Budget, Payroll, Student Financial Services, and HR offices using various Banner ERP software modules. Generates reports and maintains data for annual, quarterly, monthly and daily reports for Accounting, Budget, Student Financial Services and Payroll. Produces employee data and compensation reports for HR. Generates and analyzes annual College and University Professional Association (CUPA), Integrated Postsecondary Education data System (IPEDS), and South Carolina Human Affairs Commission (SCHAC) reports required by state and federal regulations. Provides ad hoc reports to executive management. Serves as back up to the HR Technical Consultant for systems support to the HR, Payroll, Accounting and Budget offices. Develops and maintains the HR and Finance & Business websites; consults with University Communications and Marketing staff regarding creation/use of pages, templates, graphic display, linkages, etc.; conducts research to remain current on website communications strategies; recommends enhancements to managers; and establishes, implements and coordinates schedule for periodic review and updating of website information with HR and Finance & Budget staff. Performs other related duties as required.
