GTCC is currently accepting applications for Director, Nursing Programs

Summary:

The director will provide the vision and leadership required to support and enhance the mission of the Nursing Programs (Associate Degree Nursing and Licensed Practical Nursing). Primary administrative responsibilities include program development/management, continuous review, planning, budget administration, general effectiveness of the program, accreditation, and providing supervision and mentoring to part time faculty. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the nursing in the health industry. The Program Director is a member of the full-time faculty and reports to the Division Chair of Health Sciences.

 

Essential Duties/Functions:

Administrative 

1. Provides overall leadership and management to the Nursing programs’ curriculum development/review including ensuring establishment of effective student learning outcomes and related assessment methods.

2. Develops class schedules and faculty assignments in coordination with division chair and area faculty.

3. Supports Nursing students through the academic program ensuring retention and graduation.

4. Provides oversight of program budgets and inventory for all supplies and equipment.

5. Participates in the college’s hiring process; orients new full- and part-time faculty to program practices.

6. Participates in providing evaluative feedback to faculty/staff regarding job performance.

7. Oversees the supervision and mentoring of part-time faculty to ensure academic quality and consistency.

8. Identifies/promotes professional development for self, faculty, and staff.

9. Maintains knowledge of current industry standards by developing relationships with industry leaders, experts, and companies.

10. Continuously evaluates national, regional, and local workforce trends in Nursing and the NC Board of Nursing approval requirements to ensure curricular relevancy. Maintain NCBON compliance standards.

11. Assumes direct instructional responsibility for components of the Nursing curriculum in accordance with established college guidelines.

12. Coordinates outreach and develops/maintains relationships with industry-related personnel and employers to promote the advancement of industry employment for graduates.

13. All other duties as assigned by the President or designee. 

Teaching

Prepare & teach departmental courses to include:

· developin· employing teaching strategies & instructional materials for different learning styles

· incorporating, as pedagogically appropriate, current technology in classroom, distance learning and laboratory environments

· creating and modeling a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population

· preparing, distributing and utilizing instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate

· updating and revising curriculum to maintain currency

· developing new courses as needed to support the instructional mission

· participating in the development and review of course and program/general education outcomes as appropriate

· developing, conducting and documenting appropriate assessment of student learning outcomes in courses and programs/general education as appropriate

- assigned activities necessary to recruit, select and retain students in the Nursing programs

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational & Certification Requirements:

Minimum requirements:

- Three years of full-time administrative/supervisory experience in nursing.

- Two years of full-time experience as a registered nurse

- Two years of full-time experience as a faculty member in a board approved nursing program  

Preferred requirements: 

- Experience with state board of nursing approval and national accreditation standards and procedures 

- Experience with curriculum development and program evaluation

- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes

- Experience with alternate instructional delivery systems

- Experience in a community college setting
