The City of Monroe, North Carolina, has a population of approximately 34,323 and is located 20 miles southeast of Charlotte, North Carolina, in Union County. There are 29.6 square miles within the corporate city limits. There is an extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) in which the City provides zoning and building permitting services.

The Monroe Police Department is accepting applications for Police Officer. Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 5 p.m. Applicants must be a US citizen, at least 21 years old, and hold a high school diploma or GED. Must also have no convictions for any serious misdemeanors or felonies; excellent work history; good physical condition; possess a safe driving record and be of good character and reputation and meet other qualifications as required by the State of North Carolina.
